Educational History:

Graduated from Annie Lee Colbert - Dayton

Undergraduate-  Texas Southern University-1982

Degrees and Certifications:

Received my Bachelor of Arts All -Level  Music degree from Texas Southern University

Attended SFA pursing my Masters in Education Leadership.  Will return to complete this year.

Professional Development:

Texas Bandmaster Association; Texas Music Educators Association, Women Bandmasters, International Trumpet Guild.  Attend Texas Music/Band Masters conferences in San Antonio (July/February yearly).  PACT teachers professional development, Mentor teacher.

Current Position:

Began teaching in DISD 1992 as the Beginning Band Director and Assistant at the jr high and high school.  My experience with the district has been for 22 years serving in the capacity from beginning to head director of the band program.

Previous Position:

My beginning teaching experience began with North Forest ISD as a Pre-K music teacher to Jr high Director of Band at Kirby Middle School assisting at Forest Brooke and Smiley High School.



Family Information:

I am a mother of 4 children.  All graduated from Houston schools for the exception of the baby girl, that graduated from Dayton High School 1995.  I have two grandchildren that will graduate from Dayton High School 2015. 

My grandson has attended DISD school for 6 years.  He will be in our begining band program at WWJH for the school year 2017-2018.  His sister also attended DISD for 12 years and was apart of the band program.

My grand-daughter graduated from Dayton High School , 2015.  She is now in her junior year at Lamar University with Elementary Education as her emphasis.

Personal Information:

I love to sew and do all kinds of crafts.  I read the classics and some romance novels.  I am also  a history buff dealing with Afro Ameircan historical relects and personal challenges.

I have begun to quilt.  This has been another passion that has gone dormant, but a revitalization of this craft has begun.
